The Story Behind Mottis Dogwear!
Mottis Dogwear has a story that started many years ago - with a sewing machine, a lot of love, and our very first inspiration: Paddy.
Paddy was our beautiful Australian Shepherd × Border Collie mix. She was more than just a dog - she was part of our family and the reason I first started sewing dogwear many years ago. Creating collars and accessories for her sparked a passion that never really left.
Sadly, Paddy passed away at the age of 13. Losing her was incredibly hard, and for a while, sewing and dogwear weren’t really on my mind.
Two years after losing Paddy, we decided that our home (and our hearts) were ready for another dog.
And then there was Amaya!!
Amaya is a dog who, on paper, might sound intimidating. She is a so-called “Kampfhund” and belongs to a breed that is classified under Category 2 in Germany.
But anyone who knows Amaya knows that labels couldn’t be further from the truth.
She is the cuddliest, most loving dog ever. She wants to be close, preferably very close, and somehow completely forgets that she weighs around 40 kg. In her mind, she’s definitely not a 40 kg dog.
She’s a Chihuahua.
And with Amaya, my love for creating dogwear came back even stronger.
Together with Amaya, we founded Mottis Dogwear again - with new ideas, new inspiration and a lot of excitement about where this little brand could go.
But then life changed again. I got pregnant.
When I went on maternity leave, Mottis Dogwear had to take a pause. But it wasn’t the end of the story, just a little break while life took us in a different direction.
September 2026: Mottis is back🌟
Now, in September 2026, Mottis Dogwear is returning with a completely new look and a fresh start.
We’ve rebranded, refined our ideas and are building Mottis into something even better than before.
The heart of the brand, however, remains the same:
A love for dogs. Handmade pieces. Creativity. And products made with the little details in mind.
From Paddy, the dog who started it all, to Amaya, the 40 kg Chihuahua who brought the passion back — Mottis Dogwear has always been about the special place dogs have in our lives.
And this next chapter is going to be our best one yet.
